Building a Business Coaching Program From Scratch

A national nonprofit organization devoted to providing resources for small businesses partnered with a major international finance corporation to create a new, free “small business speed coaching” program. They retained Coulter Events to plan, produce, and stage the program in five test cities across the country, including developing planning and marketing materials that would establish the program’s infrastructure from scratch.

The Challenge: A national nonprofit organization devoted to providing resources for small businesses partnered with a major international finance corporation to create a new, free “small business speed coaching” program. They retained Coulter Events to plan, produce, and stage the program in five test cities across the country, including developing planning and marketing materials that would establish the program’s infrastructure from scratch.

Coulter Strategy & Innovation’s Response: Tapped by our colleagues at Coulter Events, Coulter Strategy & Innovation set about creating a comprehensive “event in a box” that included a master agenda, detailed timeline of event milestones, and frequently asked questions for the program’s planners and participants. The resulting 22-page document quickly became a touchstone for the planning team—a meticulously assembled information packet that encapsulated the entire process of launching the program. Coulter Strategy & Innovation also drafted copy to post on the client organizations’ websites, and wrote scripts for the five events that were delivered on-site by senior representatives of both organizations.

The Result: The program was an enormous success, garnering immensely positive feedback from attendees and lavish praise from both client organizations. Everyone on the planning team appreciated Coulter Strategy & Innovation’s accessibility and responsiveness in assembling—and continually revising—the event in a box. And the nonprofit’s chief executive officer told us that Coulter Strategy & Innovation could handle his scripted remarks anytime.
